I have always found great comfort by wading through the contents of a junk drawer or a shoebox tucked way in the back of my closet. A crumpled up receipt from a restaurant transports me back to a scrumptious meal with friends. A dried up rose petal reminds me of a special Valentine's Day. A playbill ushers me back to my seat during a Broadway show. A seating card brings me back to the dance floor at my sister's wedding. A collar from my childhood pet brings tears to my eyes as I remember her bark.
Each memory holds a special place in my heart. Happy or sad. Funny or serious. I felt that I needed a special place to store these keepsakes. I did not want these memories to be tucked away inside an old shoe box only to be relocated during my spring-cleaning. I wanted to be able to relive them as needed and for them to be on display. I wanted them to be stored in a beautiful box worthy of holding such cherished memories. From these elements I set off on a journey to create handcrafted memory boxes.
Some of my creations reflect what is inside the box. Others reflect what is inside the person who fills the box.
